Every day, people would send me emails though my website asking questions about the Philippines. I started charging $25 per question and one guy sent me $500.

I actually started my channel without thinking about the business side of it too much, I hope it will work out, my channel is growing at a good pace right now and I hope once it grows I would be able to do something like selling awesome TV binge watching related t-shirts or be able to offer my subscribers deals on streaming websites like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

@Binge Watchers Hustle on Good Sir, it is al about , value and consistency and I'm sure you have both. I look forward to hearing about your products some day in the future.

Hey Tim! Great ideas here - I'm on the cusp of setting some of these up right now. 🙂

On the licensing that you do; how do you arrange that? Is it through stock footage companies or through specific brands or marketing agencies? I shoot all kinds of things that could be used that way.

And by the way, thanks for connecting me with Vidpow in Dallas. I went to one of their events this week and met Jeremy Vest and lots of other folks. It was a good time. He told me about the Tube Talk podcast. I subscribed! All the best, man!

@Joe Scott I'd like to learn more about this too. I had a large brand reach out to me once wanting to license one of my videos, however it was just a one-time thing, and the footage didn't end up getting used anyway, but I was really interested to have that opportunity. I'd love to know how to make these opportunities happen more often.

@Joe Scott Oh cool, glad you were able to meet @jeremy vest!

Most of the licensing opportunities come to me, actually. It's not really an intentional revenue stream I setup. Production companies contact me asking to license it after doing a few YouTube searches.

jo Video Creators, ive got a Question:
Why do you put a back-light on (the one above your head), but then you wear a cap?

  8. WPWebsiteTips

Good info, thanks. That's the first time I've heard about someone paying for clips of a YouTuber's videos, very cool!

  9. Greg's Garage

One of your best videos and accompanying comments that I've seen Tim.  This was great!  I make some things in my vids (body shop tools, t-shirts, etc) and sell those...  They tend to be at-cost right now, but I suspect I could easily convert that to a revenue stream if I had something a broad audience would like.

    • Video Creators

@Greg's Garage I've sold physical merch items and it can work, but the margins are really low unless you buy in bulk and do all the order fulfillment yourself. It's a lot of work to earn $2.

Great methods Tim , really professional video as always. But I got a question. Are there any methods to make more off of your YouTube channel when you have *A much smaller audience*? I know you just shared 8 methods with us. But think about it. It's not possible for us smaller channels practically. For a channel like mine I can barely get any sponsorships. Affiliate links are good but with an audience of just 500 people (I'm grateful for what I have. I'm just proving my point) the probability of somebody clicking my link for buying something is really less. I get about 4k views a month and I don't make even 1$ . I'm not complaining but I just want to know how exactly it works. I know it's not just views but can you suggest me methods to earn more? I'm not partnered directly with YouTube. I'm partnered with a third party network. Thanks for reading this. Hope you reply and help me out.

Something new I am trying is teaching at conventions since I am a DIY blogger, I have 2 watercolor & Rubber Stamping classes at a convention in June that I was planning of going to anyway. I have quite a few people signed up already after promoting it on my channel. If it works out and I enjoy it I may consider traveling around the country to do more. It is a good option for how-to type channels I think. Also for DIYers they might sell patterns or plans to go with their tutorials or be affiliates to companies that sell the supplies they use or even just have a trade deal with companies so they can get free products to reduce their overhead expenses. I find companies are really open to that arrangement and a penny saved is a penny earned!
